Maskey: SF persuading United Ireland option

Sinn Féin say that they are intensifying efforts to persuade unionists that a United Ireland is the best option.

Former Mayor of Belfast Alex Maskey claimed his party is reaching out to unionists.

Speaking at the party's annual Wolfe Tone Commemoration in Bodenstown, Maskey stated his party had tried to achieve this during his time as Lord Mayor of Belfast with unprecedented success.

However, Maskey warned at the Kildare commemoration that the stewardship shown by UUP leader David Trimble for the peace process is now a cause of concern.
