Crowds gather for solstice

Two thousand people are expected to descend on the hill of Tara today to celebrate the summer solstice.

Die-hards were up literally at the crack of dawn to witness the sun rising on the longest day of the year.

A day of music, poetry and dance is planned at the Co Meath site to celebrate our Celtic heritage.

Eamon Brady of Slaine, a group involved in the restoration of six scared wells on the hill, said that after one of the wells is restored there, he hopes the another two will be up and running soon.
