The Taoiseach says he doesn't believe there was any malice involved when Gardai closed down the investigation into the Dublin and Monaghan car bombings after just 12 months.

The Taoiseach says he doesn't believe there was any malice involved when Gardai closed down the investigation into the Dublin and Monaghan car bombings after just 12 months.

The Garda inquiry into the deaths of 33 people in successive bombings on May 17, 1974 was shut down the following year.

Bertie Ahern has told the Dail the Gardai had many other issues to handle in the 1970's.
