A man dumped in a hospital car park with serious head injuries today died soon after being spotted by staff.

A man dumped in a hospital car park with serious head injuries today died soon after being spotted by staff.

It is understood the victim, in his mid 20s, was a member of the travelling community. He is believed to have been the victim of a road accident.

He died after being admitted to Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn, Co Antrim early today.

A hospital spokeswoman said: “He was found in the car park and died shortly afterwards.

“Staff from another ward looked out and saw someone lying there and rushed out to help.

“He was in quite a bad way and died shortly afterwards.”

Police have refused to disclose what caused the victim’s injuries, but it is believed they are investigating whether they were sustained in the road accident.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed: “We did not bring the patient in.”
