The King of Malaysia and his wife have arrived in Ireland for a four-day official visit.

King Yang di-Pertuan Agong is due to meet President Mary McAleese and the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern today before attending a state dinner in Dublin Castle this evening.

Tomorrow, he will visit the Chester Beatty Library before heading to Newgrange in Co Meath.

On Wednesday, he will be in Cork to receive an honorary degree from University College Cork.
