Gangland shooting victim dies

A murder inquiry was launched tonight after a man wounded in a gangland-style shooting died in hospital.

The victim was shot in the head on Tuesday night at his home in north Dublin.

Detectives said two men wearing balaclavas burst into his house in New Cabra Road just after 10pm and shot him a number of times.

Police said he died earlier today at Mater Hospital and a murder inquiry was now under way.

Officers are still trying to establish a motive for the attack.
