Disabilities rights groups to protest outside Dáil

Members of the National Association for the Mentally Handicapped of Ireland (Namhi), is to hold a demonstration outside the Dáil today to protest at government cutbacks.

Members of the National Association for the Mentally Handicapped of Ireland (Namhi), is to hold a demonstration outside the Dáil today to protest at government cutbacks.

Namhi promotes the rights of people with intellectual disabilities,

Activists from Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Galway will take place in the demonstration.

Namhi, which has also called for rights-based disabilities legislation, said government cutbacks in respite care have left many families under intolerable pressure.
