Gardaí have arrested at least 20 people following raids on a number of lap-dancing clubs throughout the country.

Detectives raided at least two lap-dancing clubs last night as part of a crackdown on illegal immigration.

A Garda spokeswoman said two lap-dancing clubs – and possibly a third – were targeted by uniformed and plain-clothes officers.

The arrests were made under the Illegal Immigrants Trafficking Act under the direction of Assistant Commissioner Kevin Carty.

They were part of an ongoing investigation into illegal immigration.

All of those questioned were later released.
