Brennan accused of 'giving up' on Shannon
Fine Gael Munster MEP John Cushnahan has accused Seamus Brennan of giving up on the fight to maintain Shannon's stopover status within the new Open Skies negotiations.
"I am appalled that the Minister is giving up on this issue without even putting up a fight. He is betraying the interests of Ireland as a whole and Shannon in particular with possibly devastating consequences for the midwest region," said Cushnahan.
He challenged Transport Minister Seamus Brennan to deliver on the promises he made that he would only withdraw his objections if the European Commission provides a compensation package for the Shannon region.
"Where is the package Minister?" asked Cushnahan.
