Escaped prisoner returned to prison

A prison inmate who escaped from custody while being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin last week has been recaptured and returned to Wheatfield Prison.

A prison inmate who escaped from custody while being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin last week has been recaptured and returned to Wheatfield Prison.

The 26-year-old man, who was serving a sentence for dangerous driving causing death, escaped from prison officers after jumping from a second-floor window at the hospital early last week.

However, Gardaí spotted him in a car on the Ballyfermot Road last night and eventually apprehended him.
