Man on terror and blackmail charges

A Belfast man was charged tonight with blackmail and membership of a proscribed organisation.

The 47-year-old man, who also faces charges of raising funds for terrorism, is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The man was arrested and questioned by officers from the PSNI’s Serious and Organised Crime Squad, following reports of widespread extortion in the building trade.
