National country fair gets underway in Offaly

Up to 50,000 people from around Ireland are expected to attend this year's national country fair, in Birr, Co Offaly.

The two-day family event is being held at Birr Castle demesne and features sports events and countryside activities.

Fair director Margaret Edgill said the event attracts both rural and urban visitors.
