Campaigners call for cheaper condoms

Family planners are calling for a renewed campaign to promote safe sex.

It is ten years since the liberalisation of the law allowing widespread sale of condoms through shops and vending machines.

However, latest figures from the National Disease Surveillance Centre show record numbers of sexually transmitted infections.

Catherine Heaney of the Irish Family planning Association has responded to the news by calling for cheaper and even more-easily available contraception.
