Dublin taxis to hold work stoppage

Taxi drivers in Dublin are to stage a work stoppage in two weeks' time, over what they say is a lack of progress in appointing a regulator for the industry.

The three main taxi unions say there will only be emergency hospital services from 4am on Thursday, June 10 until the same time the next morning.

Tommy Gorman of the National Taxi Drivers Union said this evening that further action will follow if the Government doesn't move on the question of a taxi regulator.
