Expert issues medical tech jobs warning
A Harvard professor is expected to tell a business conference in Co Clare today that Ireland needs to become a centre of innovation to sustain jobs in the medical devices sector.
Prof. Clayton Christensen is expected to call on Irish business to develop new cheap products that can be used by ordinary people, rather than just specialist doctors.
More than 22,000 people currently work in the Irish medical devices sector, but business interests claim these jobs are at risk due to rising manufacturing costs.
