Property group dismisses rent claims

The Irish Property Owners' Association is dismissing claims that the rented sector requires more regulation.

Organisations such as the tenants' representative group Threshold say the high rents demanded by some landlords are forcing people to buy their own homes.

But Irish Property Owners' Association spokesperson Fintan McNamara said this afternoon that bringing in more regulations would not encourage more people to rent.
