Govt under pressure to change energy policy

The Government is under increased pressure to start investing in renewable energy, and develop a transport policy that will reduce emissions.

Figures from the European Environmental Agency show Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions in 2001 were more than double the amount allowed under the Kyoto Agreement.

The Agency says Ireland is one of three member states furthest away from keeping to their share of the EU target.
