Senator queries €3.65m sale for half-acre
Fine Gael Seanad transport spokesman Senator Fergal Browne, has called on the NRA and Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council to explain why they paid €3.65m in compensation for half an acre of land.
“I am very concerned at the level of compensation being paid out when land is used for an infrastructure project," he said.
"We cannot continue to offer this high level of compensation to individuals, especially in the current climate. It is also setting a very bad precedent for any future infrastructure projects.
“People are entitled to compensation for land being taken from them but I don’t believe that at €7m an acre we can sustain this rate of compensation,” added Senator Browne.
