Ahern and Trimble reject latest republican clarification

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has joined British Prime Minister Tony Blair in rejecting the substance of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams' statement in Stormont yesterday.

Speaking at government buildings, Mr Ahern reiterated Mr Blair's earlier comments that the statement did not clarify if the IRA was prepared to end all paramilitary activity.
