Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen and Northern Secretary Paul Murphy are due to meet in Belfast today following the British government's decision last night to dissolve the Northern Assembly ahead of elections planned for May 29.

The two men are expected to discuss whether or not to press ahead with the elections in the absence of a deal to get unionists back into the political institutions.
