Two police officers have been injured in North Belfast while trying to keep rival factions apart in the flashpoint area of the Limestone Road.

The officers were hit by shotgun pellets and were taken to hospital during the violence last night.

Police came under the attack as they tried to deal with 60 youths who were stoning each other at the scene.

Sinn Fein says the violence started when loyalists tried to attack children going to shops in the area.
