Govt report: More effort needed to tackle road deaths

A leaked government report has claimed that gardai need to conduct 50 times more road checks if the level of road deaths in Ireland is to be significantly reduced.

According to this morning's newspapers, the review of Ireland's road strategy found that motorists are regularly speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol, knowing that they are very unlikely to be caught.
