Drug unit: Ireland has high heroin death rate
Ireland has had one of the highest heroin-related death rates over the past decade, according to the Merchant's Quay drugs unit.
The organisation says injecting users in Ireland have 20 to 30 times as much a chance of dying as others of the same age across Europe.
Merchant's Quay director Tony Geoghegan says that this could be easily tackled by changing rules about the use of the anti-overdose medication Naloxone.
