Body found on Offaly road

Gardaí at Birr are treating as suspicious the discovery of a man's body at Coolderry, Co Offaly.

The body was discovered on the side of the N62 road by a passer-by around 8am today.

It is understood that the deceased had suffered head injuries. He has not yet been identified.

The State Pathologist has been called to the scene and a team from the Garda Technical Bureau is also en route.
