State to order Silvermines clean-up

The State is to order Mogul Ireland, the company behind the mining operation at Silvermines in Co Tipperary, to clean up contaminated dust at the site.

Notice of the order is expected to be served by state lawyers within a week.

Local Fianna Fail TD Maire Hoctor said the news will be welcomed by residents who had raised concerns about the site more than two decades ago.
