A Fianna Fail councillor in Co Donegal has resigned from the party in protest at the continued use of Shannon Airport by the US military.

A Fianna Fail councillor in Co Donegal has resigned from the party in protest at the continued use of Shannon Airport by the US military.

Patrick Danagher, who is vice chairperson of Ballyshannon Town Council, resigned at a meeting last night.

He refuted suggestions that his decision had anything to do with having the party whip removed last March as a result of a cannabis conviction.
