The IRA was under renewed pressure tonight to end its campaign of violence as US President George W Bush arrived in Northern Ireland to urge politicians and paramilitaries to go the extra mile for peace.

As Air Force One touched down in Belfast International Airport for tonight’s Iraqi war summit at Hillsborough Castle with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the President was also expected to use his visit to encourage all sides to fulfil the Good Friday Agreement.
