Naval Service detains British fishing vessel

The Irish Naval Service has detained the British fishing vessel Charlotte May.

The detention took place south east of Ballycotton Island as the Naval Service was conducting routine operations off the south coast.

The Charlotte May was detained for alleged offences relating to illegal fishing.

The fishing vessel and its crew are being escorted to Cobh, Co Cork for legal proceedings.
