Deasy compliments demonstration policing
The gardaí did a good job policing Leinster House demonstration, Fine Gael justice spokesman John Deasy claimed today.
"The gardaí, and Leinster House security, should be complimented for the way they handled the demonstration outside Leinster House last night. They showed great restraint while facing down a crowd of hundreds of people, some of whom were intent on causing trouble," said Deputy Deasy.
"It is unacceptable that Gardaí were subjected to verbal abuse and intimidation while performing their duties; the protection of Leinster House and the upkeep of public order, no matter how some members of the Oireachtas may try to defend it," he added.
