Compulsory ID 'will not stop under-age drinking'
The National Youth Federation has claimed that compulsory ID cards will not solve Ireland's under-age drinking problem.
The federation said forcing 18 to 25-year-olds to display identity on demand unfairly targets people who are not to blame for the problem.
It said the Government, drinks firms, publicans and society should formulate a co-ordinated plan involving sacrifice on all sides rather than placing all the responsibility on young adults.
