Trocaire says some aid is getting to Iraqi people
The Irish aid agency Trocaire has said that humanitarian supplies are slowly getting through to the besieged town of Basra.
Aid workers say there are difficulties however in distributing supplies to all areas of Iraq.
Moreover, the aid group insist that water purification tablets are also badly needed in areas worst affected by fighting.
Caroline Lynch from Trocaire told British television this morning that aid was finally arriving to some of the 400,000 people displaced in Northern Iraq.
