Safety Council reports 30% fall in road deaths

The number of road fatalities so far this year is 30% lower than in the same period last year, according to figures released today by the National Safety Council.

A total of 68 people died in road accidents up to 9am this morning, compared to 98 up to March 28 last year.

Eight people have died in road accidents in the last seven days and 26 so far this month.
