Legal challenge to military use of Shannon

A retired Irish army officer has launched a High Court challenge to the Government's decision to allow the US military to use Shannon Airport as part of its war against Iraq.

Ed Horgan, a member of the Peace and Neutrality Alliance, is challenging the constitutionality of the decision.

The High Court has adjourned the case until Wednesday after instructing Mr Horgan, from Castletroy in Co Limerick, to notify the chief state solicitor of the action.
