The Irish Anti-war Movement has organised a picket of today's Cabinet meeting where the Government will be deciding their position on the use of Shannon by the US military.

The protesters will assemble at 1pm at the entrance to Government buildings.

Richard Boyd Barrett, chair of the Irish Anti War Movement, said: "This meeting is where the Government decide to support peace and democracy or support warmongering and the slaughter of innocents.

"The indications are that they intend to support war but even now we appeal to them to pull back from the brink and publicly disassociate this country from the terrible violence being planned against Iraqi civilians."
