Gallagher welcomes launch of anti-litter league
Junior Minister Pat "The Cope" Gallagher has welcomed the launch of a national anti-litter league for 2003.
The league, which was organised by the Irish Business Against Litter group, has received €50,000 in funding from the Department of the Environment.
A total of 30 towns are due to participate, including, for the first time, areas designated by city councils in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Waterford and the three Dublin county councils.
Mr Gallagher said the success of the league depends on concerted action by local authorities, communities and the business and commercial sectors.
