EU to introduce new powers for customs officials

The European Union is planning to introduce new powers for customs officials in an effort to crackdown on the trade in counterfeit goods.

Under new legislation due to come into force in the coming weeks, customs officials will be allowed to seize luggage if a passenger is found to be carrying multiples of the same item.
