Police question man after body found in river

A man was being questioned by police today after CCTV cameras captured a woman’s body being dumped in a river.

Police were examining blood stains found at a bridge and in the boot of a car police believe was used to transport the victim before she was tossed into the River Lagan in Lisburn, Co Antrim.

Her jumper was hoisted up over her head when the body was pulled from the water by police divers.

Detectives last night began questioning a man who is believed to have had a relationship with the 32-year-old woman, from the Seymour Hill area, a few miles outside Lisburn.

A neighbour at the scene said: "Given the amount of blood, the poor woman must have met an horrific death."
