The Government has begun a major sell-off of state assets in an effort to raise money for the Exchequer.

The Office of Public Works former maintenance headquarters off Dublin's Baggot Street was put on sale by tender today.

The Government said the proceeds of the sale would be invested in a new national educational psychology service, a garda maintenance programme, a garda building programme and the purchase of leaseholds on state-owned properties.
