Beaumont hospital moves to reassure patients

Beaumont hospital is reassuring patients and staff that cost-cutting measures will be targeted at areas that do not impact on services.

A leaked internal memorandum suggested the hospital was considering dropping dialysis treatment for kidney patients at night.

However, the hospital's chief executive, John Lamont, says the document was a "discussion paper only", and does not represent "specific proposals, let alone decisions".
