The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has said that he plans to introduce legislation to compel the use of national identity cards for 18-to-25-year-olds when going to pubs.

Minister McDowell will introduce the legislation so that night club and pub owners will have to check that people in their premises between these ages have the appropriate identification to prove their age.
