Time running out for devolution, warns Adams
Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams tonight described as “deeply disturbing” the tendency of British government negotiators to cite unionist insecurity as a reason for holding back a change.
As Northern Ireland prepared for a week of intense behind-the-scenes negotiations to broker a deal restoring devolution next month, Mr Adams warned time was running out for a resolution before British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern’s March 3 visit to the North.
