Drink-drivers won't escape law, Byrne warns

Motorists wre warned tonight they would not get away with drink-driving, despite the implications of a court ruling against the country’s breath test laws.

Commissioner Pat Byrne, head of the Garda Siochana, said this week’s judgment by the Supreme Court – Ireland’s ultimate legal authority - was thought to have applied only to the case the judges were dealing with, although its full consequences were still being assessed.
