Gardai release results of baby post mortem
Gardai have released the results of the post mortem in Dublin on the body of a newborn baby found in a dump in Swords in north Dublin. It concluded that the infant was born alive.
The body of the baby boy was found by construction workers at lunchtime yesterday at a landfill site in Kilsallaghan in Swords.
The post mortem carried out by Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, has concluded the baby was full term and that there were no injuries sustained after birth.
It also revealed that the infant had been dead for a number of days before it was found.
Gardai are focusing their investigation on the Coolock area, as it is believed the body was transferred from there among building waste.
