MP calls for elderly protection after death
More police resources must be aimed at protecting the elderly in Northern Ireland, an MP claimed today after the death of an 82-year-old woman.
UUP president, the Reverend Martin Smyth, described as "despicable" the ransacking of the pensioner's home in south Belfast shortly before her death.
Four youths forced their way into the woman's house in Drumart Green in the Belvoir estate at about 7.40pm last night.
They ransacked the house and left a short time later.
