Irish jockey dies in Kildare road accident
The man who died in last night's fatal road accident in Co Kildare has been named as Irish jockey Anthony Powell.
Mr Powell, 43, from Melitta Road, Kildare Town, died when the vehicle he was driving in went off the road at the Curragh at around 8.30pm.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Mr Powell, well known in horse racing circles, was a former winner of the Irish Grand National in 1989, on board "Maid of Money".
