The Irish Farmers Association has demanded that the Government defend Irish farmers and oppose the European Union's proposed reform of the Common Agriculture Policy.

Association president John Dillon said Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh and Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen must stand up for Irish farmers when EU ministers meet in Brussels today to discuss the proposed reform.
