Harney disappointed at Logica-CMG job losses

Tanaiste Mary Harney has expressed her disappointment at the loss of 315 jobs in Cork and Dublin.

British telecommunications firm Logica-CMG announced earlier today that it plans to lay off 220 workers in Dublin and 95 in Cork as part of a restructuring of its operations.

Ms Harney said she believes the current economic difficulties will not prevent the workers from finding new jobs.

"The market in Ireland remains buoyant in this sector and I hope that it certainly will be possible very quickly for alternative employers to head-hunt these employees with a view of offering them early employment," she said.
