Logica-CMG to cut 300 jobs
More than 300 jobs are to be lost in Ireland's high-tech sector through lay-offs by the British-owned Logica-CMG mobile phone software manufacturing company, it emerged today.
A total of 220 jobs will go at the group’s base in Dublin’s International Financial Services Centre, while 95 more will be lost in Cork, where a software development centre is to be closed.
Logica and CMG merged late last year and made it clear then that there would be 1,400 redundancies throughout their European operations.
Their worldwide workforce is 24,000.
A spokesman said the job losses were due to the duplication of mobile software developers in the newly-merged group.
