Harney: Open door policy on immigrants must stop

Tánaiste Mary Harney has indicated the Government is to get tough with bogus asylum seekers.

Non-processed immigrants cost the State an estimated €300m per year.

The Government is awaiting a Supreme Court ruling to determine if non-Irish parents of children born in this country can stay here.

Mary Harney has insisted that the practice of an open door policy on immigrants cannot continue.
