Hopes spire will be completed today

Engineers were today hoping to complete a monument that will tower seven times higher than Dublin's general post office.

The last three sections of the 120-metre stainless steel spire - dubbed the Spike by Dubliners - was due to be lowered into place in O'Connell Street today, weather permitting.
